GOD is working in our House Churches
Posted by Brandon Steele on 02/07/2012
Every week after our House Churches meet, every House Church Leader answers a few questions about how thing went. Simple things like, “Who all came” and “What were the good things that happened.” A couple of weeks ago, one of the questions was, “Where did you see GOD last night in your House Church?” And for some reason the way our leaders responded really struck me.
I read about one of our Passion House Churches, how they went for a 5-mile run in the pouring rain and how they were reminded about the way GOD cleanses us and washes away all of the things that are not of him.
I read about single guys that are sponsoring 3 children through Compassion International by themselves.
I read about how the Ezra series and the REVIVAL that GOD was stirring 2500 years ago is directly speaking to people, its as if GOD were speaking the very things they needed to hear.
I read about how people are finding true community. They are sharing life with people that love them despite their flaws, their sin and their inconsistency. And about how they are growing in their love for GOD and others together.
I read about how GOD is stirring comfortable people to change.
I read about how people were coming alive talking about Jesus!
For some reason I felt compelled to share this with you this morning. GOD, for whatever reason, continues to dwell among us, to pursue us even when we sin and to love us.
I hope you have a great day, but I hope its because your eyes are opened and you see the work, the movement, the presence of GOD.
I’ll leave you with these words from Colossians. I don’t know if you’re like me, but I’m so forgetful in my faith. I have a bad day or go through some temptation and then I forget about how good Jesus is, I take my eyes, my focus off of him for one second and I forget how much I need him and how he is literally the only reason I’m at peace with GOD. So, I leave you with these words about Jesus, the one we serve!
“The Son is the image of the invisible GOD, the firstborn over all creation. For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together……For GOD was pleased to have all his fulness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or in heaven, by making peace through his blood shed on the cross. Once you were alienated from GOD and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. But now he had reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation-if you continue in your faith, established and firm and do not move from the hope held out in the gospel.” Colossians 1:15-21

Sign Up for a House Church
Posted by Brandon Steele on 09/06/2011
Sign up on Sunday
We will be having sign-ups again in the lobby this Sunday for all who are still interested in joining a House Church. We will be available then to answer your questions and help you in any way we can.
Sign up online
You can also sign up to be a part of a House Church online. Simply look through the packet House-Church-Handout-2011, and email your top three choices to brandon@ethoslove.com. Even though we ask you to send us three choices, you are only committing to be in one of those House Churches. We ask you to send your top three choices in case the first two are already full.

Thanks
It was wonderful to have so many of you sign up to be in a House Church this past Sunday. I love that there were literally hundreds of you that have already committed! It brings me so much joy to think about what GOD could do through and in our House Churches this upcoming year. Thank you for your patience with us on Sunday and for being so kind as we collected your information and got you plugged into a House Church!
Still wanting to Sign-up for a House Church?
We are going to have a station set-up in the lobby on Sunday for all those who haven’t had a chance to sign up yet. I’ve attached the packet containing all of the different House Churches House Church Handout 2011. Look through it this week and then on Sunday, simply go to the table with the sign directly above it saying, “Sign Up Here,” and we’ll be there to answer your questions and get you signed up.
When do House Churches officially start?
September 14 is the first Wednesday night that our House Churches will meet. Some of them however, will meet on different nights of the week, such as Tuesday or Thursday. So to better clarify, the week of September 11-17 is our first week that we will be meeting as House Churches.
Description of our House Churches
During the week, we gather in homes, parks, coffee shops, and apartment complexes to connect with God and our church family on a deeper level. We open our lives to give and receive healing, confession, encouragement, strength, and grace. We ask questions, find answers, serve and bless our city, and help one another follow Jesus Christ more faithfully.
Each House Church consists of somewhere between 8-16 people. It doesn’t matter if you are white, black, young, old, Christian, or not — you are invited to be a part of a House Church.
