Join the Family

We believe commitment is a vital part of the spiritual journey. When Jesus called His first disciples, He called them to leave everything so that they could follow him. Jesus didn’t do this to torture them, or to teach them a lesson. Jesus understood that until they left that which was meaningless, they would never be able to enter into that which was full of meaning.

Unfortunately, in an effort to “attract crowds,” some churches will never call the people in their gatherings to commit. This can result in creating a place where people build shallow relationships, serve only when it is convenient, and give of their time, energy, and finances when it does not cost them anything. When we fail to call people towards a deeper commitment, we fail to call people to Jesus.

The Truth.
Maybe Ethos Church is not the place you choose to commit. That is fine. In fact, we believe there are hundreds of faithful, missional churches in our city. If you don’t choose to commit at Ethos, we encourage you to find another local church and commit there.

No Members.
At Ethos we don’t have members. In our city, people become members at Sam’s Club, Blockbuster, and Athletic Clubs. They pay monthly dues, consume services, and then when those organizations fail to meet their needs they simply walk away. No strings attached.

Unfortunately, many people in our city treat church the same way. Since there is virtually a church on every corner, most people use churches to meet their needs and give very little. This is not what Jesus intended.

The Family at Ethos.
We are not calling you to become a member of our church. We are asking you to make Ethos your church family. Family runs deep. Family is there for you when things are really good and when things fall apart. People do not consume family… people simply become family. We believe this is what Jesus had in mind. This is why we believe commitment is so important.
