A King is Born

LISTEN to A King is Born

There is something about Christmas that draws my heart and mind to Jesus.

If I’m honest, it hasn’t always been this way for me. As a kid, this time of year drew my heart to Santa Claus, new toys, no school, prayers for snow, and time with family. Although these things are all wonderful in their own right, there is something more to anticipate this time of year.

Several years ago, God began to capture my heart with a story that I had grown accustomed to hearing each year around this time. I began to realize that the story of Jesus’ birth is anything but sweet and predictable. It is a story steeped in mystery, danger, and surprise. It is a story about the unrelenting love of a God who is willing to do whatever it takes to reconnect our wandering hearts to His.

So just as the people of God waited for thousands of years for Jesus, the coming King to be born — we gather each year in the month of December to remember His birth and wait in eager anticipation for His return. This time of year anchors our hearts in the truth of our past, and propels us to live in the truth of God’s future.

“Unto us a child is given. Unto us a King is Born.”

This story might be familiar to you, but it is anything but ordinary. Join us on Sundays during the month of December as we dive into the many layers of Jesus’ birth and his promised return.
