LISTEN to FAITH
Have you ever thought about this question:
“Why do you believe what you believe about GOD?”
It’s a tough question to answer, isn’t it? Are you simply a product of the environment and culture you were raised in, where your beliefs came from those who passed them down to you? Where you inherited the beliefs without ever thinking through them? Or maybe your beliefs have been borrowed or influenced by your friends and co-workers who seem to have logical, well thought-out reasons for their stance. Regardless, have you ever really stopped to think, “Why do I believe what I do?”
It seems that we all come to these moments in life where we start to question our beliefs. We lose a friend or a spouse or a child tragically; a natural disaster happens and claims the lives of thousands; we suffer immensely. It’s in these moments where we are forced to dig down deep inside of us for answers. We try to make sense of things and we often find that our beliefs are not as strong as we thought they were.
In scripture, the different biblical writers had this desire for people to BELIEVE, but not just a blind, inherited belief in anything, but to experience and to believe in GOD, the GOD of the bible who is eternal, immortal and invisible. They desired for people to have a strong, firm belief in GOD that withstood times of testing and uncertainty. It is our same desire at Ethos. We believe that there is a GOD and that knowing him and being known by him is the purpose of our existence.
Join us for a two-week study as we examine this idea of faith and what it means to really believe in GOD. And if there is a GOD, what does that mean for me?
