The Story of God

Ethos has enjoyed being a small part of the story that God has been writing in downtown Nashville, but we believe the story of God is far bigger than what he is doing among us. The larger story of God’s work is most commonly referred to as the Gospel, or the good news of what God is doing through Jesus.

This is [THE] STORY.

God is the very definition of love. He loves each of us more than we could ever understand — regardless of the choices we have made. Unfortunately, when God offered his people life, we chose sin and death.

Because of grace, God refused to let our poor choices define our future. God himself came to earth in human form, as Jesus, to live a sinless life and change eternity. After Jesus was murdered and raised to life from the dead to reconcile imperfect people to a perfect God, He returned to Heaven. The good news is not simply that God saved us, but that He didn’t want us to be alone on this journey. So He sent the Holy Spirit to live inside of those that choose to follow him, and established the church to be his instrument of change.

Since God loves everyone, and not just a select few, Jesus established the church to serve the poor, spread His love, and to turn the world upside down. The sad reality is that some of us still refuse to accept life, so instead we run from God and turn towards sin.

Our hope is found in the reality that Jesus is alive, He will come again, and those that choose to accept His love and follow Him will never taste death.
